The incident took place in Hewlett around midnight on Thursday, Oct. 20.

According to Nassau County Police detectives, the victim's 7-year-old son was sleeping when he awoke to loud screaming. He was upset and notified his parents about the situation.

They reviewed their doorbell surveillance camera and saw a neighbor leaving a package at the house. The victims have received unwanted packages from this neighbor in the past and notified the police, the department said.

It was determined the envelope contained "hateful symbols" on the outside and contained letters with anti-Semitic remarks, police said.

William Quigley, age 52, of Hewlett, was arrested without incident.

He was charged with harassment and two counts of stalking and will be arraigned on Friday, Oct. 21, in Hempstead.
